Oasis Academy

Curriculum...

Young People at Oasis Academy Wintringham have access to the best educational facilities, exciting opportunities and first class support.

All students are treated as individuals with personalised learning programmes. The prime aim of the Academy is to place students at the centre of the learning process. Learning is active, engaging and fun within a structured environment.

Foundation

Students follow learning programmes leading to National Curriculum tests in English, Maths and Science. Some students take these tests at the end of Year 8, while others take them in Year 9. The rest of the curriculum is based on the Royal Society of Arts 21st Century curriculum, Opening Minds, which focuses on the development of students’ skills and talents. Students have access to the humanities, arts, technology, sports, languages and ICT. They also have a voice in mapping their route through their curriculum leading to high levels of engagement and achievement.

13-16

A full complement of GCSE's is supplemented with Specialist Diplomas and BTEC courses. Opportunities also emerge from our on site Healthy Living Centre, Children’s Centre and Community Café to develop courses related to these areas. Some students begin GCSE and other level 2 courses in Year 9; some may take three years to complete Key Stage 4.

Post 16

Our planning for the sixth form is at an early stage but we will be offering a wide range of A level courses together with level 3 BTEC and Specialist Diplomas. We will also deliver some level 2 courses within the BTEC and Specialist Diploma family.
