Erica Leadbetter’s performance of All That Jazz from the hit musical Chicago went down a treat with the judges of this year’s ‘O’ Factor contest.
This was the Academy’s third talent contest and 25 acts auditioned to take part. Of those, 10 finalists performed last Thursday in front of VIP judges Oasis Founder Steve Chalke, Principal Jane Bowman and Father Stephen Jones of Grimsby’s St Augustine’s Church.
In second place was Philippa Drurey while Dean Garrod, Brad Arliss and Emma Stephens came joint third. The other finalists were Chelsea Ashworth, Jay Wraith, Megan Thornley, Meleena Kowal and Charlotte Roscoe.
Ms Bowman was full of praise for all ten finalists. She said: “I thought this show was probably the best we have ever had. The quality of the acts just get better and better.” Steve Chalke added "The finalists were absolutely brilliant and every single one of them is a winner.”
