Pools firm splashes out for sports club

A new sports club for disabled people has been established in North East Lincolnshire, supported by £60,000 of football pools funding.

The Disability Sports Club, based at Grimsby's Oasis Academy Wintringham, has held its first session and was immediately deemed a huge success.  It is for anybody with a disability aged between 8 and 25, and involves a range of sporting activities for them to participate in.

Sam Bell, 17, of Humberston, attended the first session, when youngsters played powerchair football and basketball.  More activities will soon be introduced, including playing bagpipes and trampolining.

Sam said: "We had a look at the gym and I thought it catered well for the disabled.  We tried wheelchair football and it was good. I will be coming back."

Mum Donna added: "The club has excelled itself – something like this has been missing in the area."

The club will be running every Saturday from 10am to noon.  Sessions cost £3.  For more information, call Ms Johnston on 01472 323 346.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
