Global Links Strategy
Purpose
As part of the ‘global Oasis family’ the Academy is in a unique position to maximise opportunity for our communities to experience first hand diversity of culture, build knowledge, understanding and empathy through establishing deep working relationships with our link country India.
Vision
To provide as many opportunities as possible for our Oasis communities to communicate with each other, learn from each other, raise awareness of one another’s needs and provide a mutually supportive partnership that strengthens the Oasis ethos around the globe.
Objectives
- To bring learning to life
- To share learning experiences and good practice
- To raise awareness of Oasis activities in India
- To communicate on a regular basis with colleagues and students in India
- To formulate direct links with current projects in India
- To support the work of Oasis in India
- To enrich our work through these links
- To provide continuing professional development for staff through these links
- To facilitate exchange visits for staff, students and the wider community
- To develop long lasting friendships

Progress So Far
- November 2007 – Trip to India by Principal, Jane Bowman, to visit Oasis projects in Mumbai and attend Oasis International Conference in Goa.
- Visit to Oasis Academy Wintringham by Becky Swamickan (from Oasis projects, Chennai) – April 2008 – to work alongside staff and students in the Academy.
Proposed Visits
- September 2008 – Dan Scott, Director of Learning Sport, and Anne Boyers (Study Support Centre GTFC) to go to India to work with youth soccer team and Oasis staff.
- Student visit to India – Summer 2009.
- Other staff to travel to India during holidays.
