Oasis Academy Wintringham Reaches Major Construction Milestone

Oasis Academy Wintringham held a topping out ceremony to mark a significant milestone in the development of its new building for, which will open in January 2009.

Sponsored by Oasis Community Learning, the Academy provides a welcoming place for young people of the surrounding community, as well as their families and friends.

The Academy’s Principal, Jane Bowman, said:

It doesn’t seem two minutes since we had the groundbreaking ceremony or, indeed, the first vehicles coming onto site last August.

Fantastic progress has been made, as demonstrated by our ability to stand at the top of the new building and view what is now a progressive project.

Many people have made this day possible, but my tribute goes to Clugstons, who have bee phenomenal. Clugstons have worked long and hard to make sure that this project is on time and fits the purpose for which we want to use it.

It has been wonderful to see so many people here today to join us in our celebrations, not least the students who are as excited as we are about this project.

Steve Chalke MBE, CEO of Oasis Community Learning, said:

Oasis Academy Wintringham demonstrates our commitment to the development of young people who care deeply about their education and who take pride in achievement. We want our students to have a real sense of community both within the school and within their neighbourhood.

The new building will be an inspirational place where students can realise their full potential, and it will act as a hub for a wide range of activities where the community will be warmly welcomed.
