Attendance and Punctuality

Oasis Academy Wintringham has high standards with regards to student attendance and punctuality and expects 100%. However, we do appreciate that all young people can fall ill from time to time and therefore our Academy target is 94% or above.

Punctuality

AM Register: The start time for students is 8:30am and the school gate closes at 08:28am. Students who arrive after 08:30am will be marked late. Students arriving after 8:30am will need to be signed in at the late gate in the main school Sports Hall. They will receive an after school detention. The AM register closes at 9:00am and students will receive an unauthorised absent mark after this time.

PM Register: This opens at 2pm and will remain open for 30 minutes.

Term Time Holidays

Schools are not allowed to authorise holidays. Please complete a 'Request for Leave Form' form if you intend to take your child on holiday during term time.

  • Every lesson matters – children who have time off often find it difficult to catch up and do well at school.
  • There is a strong link between the amount of absence and the progress/qualifications that a student achieves.
  • Your child is punctual if they are in their tutor room at the start of our day, which is at 8.30am. Students will be recorded as late if they arrive up to half an hour after this.  If a student arrives any time after 9am, then this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence, and the student will not be given their attendance mark for the morning.  These rules are set by the Department for Education.

Tutors

Tutors engage with students each morning, providing valuable assistance and support for any challenges related to attendance and punctuality. They also collaborate with year leaders to ensure that students receive additional support when needed.

HOY - Head of Year

Heads of Year are available each morning to provide guidance and support to their tutors regarding behaviour and attendance matters.

PYM - Pastoral Year Managers

PYM is dedicated to providing support throughout the day, as their schedule does not include teaching commitments. They are readily available to engage with students and also welcome the opportunity to communicate with parents through phone, email, or in-person meetings.

Attendance Officer

The initial point of contact for parents and caregivers, focused on providing support and guidance regarding attendance matters. Collaborating with families to develop and implement tailored attendance strategies aimed at improving attendance and identifying any potential barriers. Offering support and information to families, students, and academy staff while ensuring accurate recording and reporting of attendance data, including precise registers. Partnering with external agencies to foster a collaborative approach to attendance and to assist students with significant absenteeism.

HUB & Welfare Coordinator

The coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration with families and students, providing essential support and guidance related to welfare matters. By working in tandem with the attendance officer, they develop tailored plans and strategies aimed at assisting families who require extra support. Additionally, the coordinator helps to identify challenges that may impact attendance and advises the academy on community issues, thereby enhancing and reinforcing the connections between Oasis Academy and the local community.

OCL Mental Health Team

We are fortunate to have a highly skilled and dedicated team of specialists with extensive experience in supporting young individuals who encounter a variety of mental health challenges. Our team's mission is to work collaboratively with our young people to identify and address the barriers that may impede their attendance and academic engagement. Through a compassionate and tailored approach, we strive to foster an environment where they feel empowered to navigate their difficulties and flourish in their educational pursuits.

Attendance Lead ALT

A member of the senior leadership team is responsible for overseeing attendance and offers valuable support and guidance to the teams mentioned above. They serve as an essential bridge, facilitating communication and collaboration among students, parents, and academy teams, and the leadership team.
