Oasis Food Projects
We are understand that sometime we all have months that are financially hard, this has lead us to launch our own food pantry supporting the local community with food parcels. As well as other great food work happening throughout the year including cooking classes, slower cooker project and holiday food provision.
Community Pantry & Food Parcels
Oasis Hub South Grimsby team and volunteers are here to support with food parcel support . The Hub team allows people to be directly referred to access the food parcel scheme or via the academy or other services. If a student or family is identified as urgently in need of a food parcel due to difficult circumstances, the Hub is able to access support within 24 hours and have open sessions on Tuesdays and Friday, 10-12am were people can access donations fruit and vegetables from the community fridge.
The Hub makes use of this service to provide emergency food assistance to families at both academies and within our community. The Hub also has a food pantry which allows families to donate items. The food pantry is there for those who are not eligible for the local community shop but are struggling with finances.
Oasis Hub South Grimsby works as part of the larger North East Lincolnshire food fourm to help alleviate food poverty in North East Lincolnshire.
The food pantry is open to all.
Every donation, no matter how small, is welcome, you can donate provisions at the community space. Please use the following list as a guide:
Breakfast: Jam/spreads; cereals – small packets and variety packs; long-life milk; powdered milk; tea bags; Instant coffee; boxed long-life fruit juices.
Lunch and/or evening meal: soup – tins and packets; tinned vegetables – peas, beans, carrots, sweet corn, tomatoes, spinach etc; tinned beans/spaghetti etc; tinned meat – stew, chicken, mince, corned beef etc; tinned fish – tuna, salmon, pilchards, sardines, mackerel etc; pasta; rice; supernoodles; sauces/sauce mixes – packets or jars; soya mix etc for vegetarians; tinned rice pudding; instant whip; custard – tinned or instant; dried fruit – raisins, dates, apricots etc.
Miscellaneous: chocolate bars; biscuits.
Please only donate food stuffs that are unopened and in date, and please note that we cannot accept donations of fresh fruit or vegetables.
