For the first lesson this week, I want you to focus on reinforcing the use of trigonometry. You will focus on finding just a missing side length within a right-angled triangle. To do this watch the video here.
The key to this is to make sure you rearrange the equation carefully. If you end up with an answer that is negative, you will have done something wrong in the calculation. Remember a length in the real world can’t be negative.
Once you have watched the video, then please have a go at the questions in the maths section of the virtual learning site. These are all about fining the missing side, you will need to either multiply or divide using either sine, cosine or tangent. The last few questions of the document are designed to be an extension. Please use the answers document to mark your work, email me with how you have got on at; email@example.com
For the second lesson this week, I want you to focus on reinforcing the use of trigonometry. You will focus on finding just the missing angle within a right-angled triangle. To do this watch the video here.
The key to this is to make sure you use the inverse function of the sine, cosine and tangent functions on your calculator.
Once you have watched the video, then please have a go at the questions in the maths section of the virtual learning site. These are about finding the missing angle, however questions 3 and 4 of the document are designed to be an extension - you will need to use this lesson, but also the work from lesson 1 or Pythagoras’ theorem. Please use the answers document to mark your work, email me with how you have got on at; firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember if you need any further support then please email me! If you are looking for further work to complete then be sure to look at the enrichment section of the virtual school, or click here for tasks related to the work.
This lesson is focussing on both reflections and rotations – please watch the maths watch clips, take notes and answer all of the interactive questions. I have also created a supplementary work sheet (with answers) for you to complete should you wish.
This lesson is focussing on both enlargements and translations – please watch the maths watch clips, take notes and answer all of the interactive questions. I have also created a supplementary work sheet (with answers) for you to complete should you wish.

Task 1 - The word ‘consolidate’ means to make something stronger or more secure. Click here to watch a video explain how Hitler ‘consolidated’ his power (made it stronger) after he became Chancellor in 1933.
Task 2 – For each of the events below, write a sentence or two explaining how it helped Hitler consolidate his power. The video in Task 1 should help you with this – the first one has been done for you!
Example - The Reichstag Fire helped Hitler consolidate his power because it allowed him to blame the Jews for burning down the Reichstag. This meant he could persuade President Hindenburg to pass the Decree for the Protection of the People and the State, and later the Enabling Act, giving Hitler more power.
1. The March 1933 elections helped Hitler consolidate his power because…
2. The Enabling Act helped Hitler consolidate his power because…
3. The Night of the Long Knives helped Hitler consolidate his power because…
4. The death of Hindenberg helped Hitler consolidate his power because…
Challenge – An opportunist is someone who makes the most of the opportunities they get.
Do the events of 1933-34 suggest Hitler was lucky, an opportunist, or both? Write a short paragraph explaining your answer.
As always, please email your work and any questions to Rahul.firstname.lastname@example.org.
